Tsitsipas now faces match with Rublev conqueror
PARIS June 2 Reuters - Greek ninth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas lost the opening set but went on to defeat Italian Matteo Arnaldi 3-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 6-2 on Saturday to reach the last 16 of the French Open.
Tsitsipas, a semi-finalist at Roland Garros in 2021, trailed 3-6 3-5 but turned things around to claim a hard-fought victory.
The 24-year-old will now face Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the fourth round after the Spaniard knocked out sixth seed Andrey Rublev in straight sets.

Arnaldi, ranked 142nd in the world, had taken a set off Tsitsipas in their only previous meeting last year in Hamburg.
The 21-year-old Italian, who had never previously won a match at a Grand Slam, provided a stern test for Tsitsipas in the opening set as he dictated points with his powerful groundstrokes.
But Tsitsipas, who has won 11 tour-level titles, raised his game in the second set and broke Arnaldi's serve to lead 5-3 before taking the set in a tiebreak.
The Greek continued to press in the third set and broke Arnaldi's serve in the seventh game to take a 4-3 lead, before holding his own serve to move a set away from victory.
Tsitsipas broke Arnaldi's serve again to lead 2-0 in the fourth set and never looked back, sealing victory with a forehand winner after two hours and 55 minutes.
